2nd Half Year Rates Issued

Goondiwindi Regional Council has issued its rates and charges for the period January to July 2009.

In order to receive the 15% discount, Council's Mayor, Graeme Scheu says rates must be paid in full by 31 March.

"We are unable to allow the discount if the full payment has not been received at one of our customer service offices by the close of business on that day," Cr Scheu says.

"Please take this into account if you are posting your payment or paying by BPay as this could delay receipt of payment by a couple of days," he says.

Pensioners or any other residents making regular payments must ensure the entire six month bill is paid in full by the due date.

Council's Director Corporate Services, Mr Jason Quinnell is also reminding residents that water consumption for the period July to December 2008 is also included in the charges.

"As most residents would now be aware, there is not a separate water use account issued, rather it has been consolidated into the one rates and charges bill," Mr Quinnell says.

"We strongly encourage residents to monitor water usage and regularly check their water meters as this may alert residents to a leak," he says.

Details of options on how to pay are listed on the back of the rates notice.
