Minister Opens New Reservoir at Texas
Minister for Local Government, Hon Desley Boyle MP officially opened the New Water Reservoir in Texas last week.
The new two megalitre concrete reservoir and associated work was constructed under the State's Water and Sewerage Program and the Smaller Communities Assistance Program.
At a total cost of $989,022, the work was subsidised by the State Government on a two to one basis with Council contributing $353,822.
Constructed by Bargara Concrete Tanks, the reservoir will provide additional fire fighting capability for the township as well as providing reserves of treated water during times of poor raw water quality when the through put of the treatment plant is restricted.
New raw water pumps and associated pipe work at the intake on the Dumaresq River compliment the reservoir. Together they will ensure a long term, reliable water supply to the township of Texas.
Visiting Texas and Goondiwindi the Minister also took time to meet with representatives of the winning Queensland Healthiest Community team.
