Town Workshops

Goondiwindi Regional Council will be holding community workshops in Inglewood, Texas and Goondiwindi this week.

Intending to identify opportunities for future town improvements as part of the development of Council's Corporate and Economic Action Plans, all residents are invited to attend.

Council's Mayor, Graeme Scheu says following the excellent response to recent community survey, the workshops will build on feedback already received and identify future 'on the ground' priorities for the three larger towns in the region.

"The listening tours provided an opportunity to identify specific issues in the smaller communities, however identifying the main issues in larger towns is a lot more complex," Cr Scheu says.

"The workshops will be 'hands on' with participants working to identify actual locations where improvements are needed or could be made," he says.

The workshops, facilitated by Mr Robert Prestipino, will also be attended by Councillors and senior Council management.

"This is a great opportunity for interested community members to work alongside councillors and staff so that priority listings of future works and actions can be developed in accordance with the specific needs of the individual communities," Cr Scheu says.

"We are also developing longer term 'streetscaping' plans for the main streets of Inglewood, Texas and Goondiwindi and these plans will also be a focus of the workshops," he says.

"Although the workshops may be a new concept to those residents who are used to the open 'public meeting' formats generally held by the former councils, we hope that all residents will give consideration to attending," Cr Scheu says.

"We have asked that if people are intending to come to one of the workshops they let us know for catering purposes, although people are still welcome to just turn up if they forget to rsvp," he says.

The workshops will also provide an opportunity for residents to receive feedback on the recent community survey.
