Councillor Kearney has been appointed Deputy Mayor, by his fellow Councillors, for the second term. He holds the position of Chairperson for the Local Disaster Management Group and the Road Safety Committee as well as being a Council Representative on the Border Rivers Organisation of Councils, the Downs and Surat Basin Association of Councils and the Regional Roads Group.
With 36 years’ experience as a Police Officer, Councillor Kearney has a broad knowledge and understanding of the fundamental issues facing communities. His special interest is in the built environment and infrastructure field and he places a strong focus on the liveability of communities across the regional area. Feedback from residents across the whole of the regional area is welcomed and discussion encouraged regarding any Council related matters.

Married to wife Michelle, Councillor Kearney has three (3) grown children living and working locally, and he is also a doting Grandfather to six (6) small grandchildren.
